In what comes as no shock, Disney has officially announced they will be making Frozen 2. The first film was a massive hit and one of the top box office films that brought in around $1.3 billion. Frozen has become a huge hit and still pops up everywhere nowadays with all of the merchandised products that have come out of it.
Disney hasn’t said when the sequel will be coming out, but all fans young and old can rejoice to know that it will be officially happening.
The rumor mill has been swirling around Indiana Jones for awhile now wondering what would happen to the franchise. Disney currently has full control over the movie series which came in their deal with Paramount. The company announced there were plans to reboot the classic franchise sometime in the future with a new actor taking up the role of Indy rather than continuing the series with Indiana’s son like the painful fourth movie tried to (I know you’re asking what fourth movie? It doesn’t exist.).
New information has been coming out the past couple of weeks that Hollywood’s hottest actor, Chris Pratt, was the fan favorite to take up the roll and now it’s beginning to look like a reality as Stephen Spielberg himself has come out and endorsed Pratt for the role. The actor broke out on Parks & Recreation (which sadly ends tomorrow) and has recently broken into the movie world with 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and the upcoming Jurassic World.
Everyone loves Chris Pratt, and he’s a super fun person and actor. As much as everyone would love to see Harrison Ford jump into the role again, he’s just becoming too old and they need someone fresh. Pratt, in my opinion, would be perfect, because he brings a certain charisma and energy to every role he takes. He’s got the dashing adventurer personality and look down already but he can also be sarcastic and fun. I would love to see him jump into another huge franchise like this and think he could do Harrison proud in a reboot.
Pirates of the Caribbean is pushing forward with the series’ fifth installment that will officially be called “Dead Men Tell No Tales”. It is confirmed that Johnny Depp will be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa. Javier Bardem will join the cast as Captain Salazar, who is the films antagonist. Here is the official synopsis for the movie.
“Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea… including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.”
Hopefully the series can see a bounce back to its former greatness with this film and not continue to drive the Pirates of the Caribbean legacy further into the ground to make money. The film is currently scheduled for a July 7, 2017 summer release, which is way off into the future, but could be moved up to a release next year if everything runs smoothly.
Disney has been putting together a live action adaptation of their classic princess movie; Beauty and the Beast. They dropped a big announcement last week announcing out of the blue that Harry Potter alumni, Emma Watson, was cast in the lead role of Belle.
Now information is coming out that Disney is set on trying to get Ryan Gosling signed on for the male lead role of the Beast. He is the studio’s top choice for the role and they have already sent an offer out to him exclusively. Gosling and Watson would certainly be a great pair on screen and would charm everyone in this age old story.
Bill Condon is set to direct the movie and Disney has David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman producing.
