DC has been trying to play major catch up with Marvel in regards to a cinematic universe. Despite only having one film out so far, the company has been doing a great job of putting everything into motion and making tons of big casting reveals. Although some casting choices have seemed questionable at best, a lot of them are very exciting, especially Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
It was pretty exciting when they first announced the actor who was Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones would be playing the king of the ocean, and now the first picture is here. Personally, I think Momoa looks amazing and this is a smart and cool take on the character. Aquaman is normally seen with bright green and orange colors while being a white male with blonde hair. Momoa brings a modern rugged look to the character that is way more badass. He really makes Aquaman look like someone you don’t want to mess with and like a true ruler of the entire ocean.
Unite the Seven is probably referring to the seven seas because he is literally the king of all the ocean. It could have some tie to the Justice League if there are going to be seven members, but I would guess this has to do with the solo film. This picture definitely has me interested and excited for Momoa’s Aquaman debut, which sadly won’t be until 2018.
True Detective was a massive hit for HBO last year and immediately was approved for a second season. It was announced that the second season would offer a completely new story with different characters and a fresh setting while still dealing with a supernatural and occult case. The second season is starring Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch Kitsch, Colin Farrell, and Vince Vaughn.
The first pictures of the characters from season 2 have come out and really show how different this new True Detective season is going to be and it immediately looks urban based on the characters outfits compared to the middle of nowhere feel that the first season had.
Here are more pictures with the character descriptions for McAdams, Kitsch and Farrell.
Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.
Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.
Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.
Eastbound & Down was one of HBO’s prime comedy hits within the psat couple of years. Now, the writers of Eastbound, Danny McBride and Jody Hill, are teaming up once again to bring forth a new HBO comedy called Vice Principals.
The show is getting 18 episodes in its premiere season and will star McBride along with Walton Goggins (Justified, The Shield) and HBO alum, Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire, Agent Carter). The show focuses on a high school and the two guys that believe they run the place who team up with a dirty politician.
The show has an amazing trio here and with McBride and Hill writing, it should very easily find itself being a hit, especially with people that loved Eastbound. I, personally, can’t wait for this to get onto HBO because I think it will be hilarious and feel very similar to Eastbound in setting.
Silicon Valley was another hit show for HBO last year when it delivered a fun look at the technological boom that is currently still happening out in California. The show’s amazing characters will return to pick up right where they left during season 1 with the Pied Piper app breaking the “Weissman Score”.
The show was easily my favorite new additional to television last year and I can’t wait to see this amazing cast finally return. The first promo above is hilarious and has the exact same feel as the first season.
Silicon Valley is scheduled to return for its second season on HBO starting April 12th.
