Why Agent Carter Needs a Second Season

Agent Carter has been a more than phenomenal television mini-series during the time that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been on hiatus. Everyone loves seeing Hayley Atwell back in the role accompanied by many new faces who really fill out this show so well. With only one episode left in the eight part mini-series, Agent Carter’s future hangs openly in the air with no word on whether or not it will continue for a second season. Many people have expressed their desire to see a second season, and with how much of a fan base the show has gained for this eight episode stretch, I think there is so much potential going forward and both Marvel and ABC would benefit immensely from continuing the show.

One of the things that Agent Carter does so well is give viewers and Marvel fans a deeper look at the MCU as a whole. The show provides a lot of insight into the time gap between past and present day MCU that delivers an entirely different universe. The show continues to display that Marvel flare found in the motion pictures and adapts it extremely well by giving us characters we can latch onto and invest ourselves in. Peggy is a fantastic main character that could easily continue to carry the show were it to go on. It’s fun to watch a female main character get the spotlight while Marvel has yet to release a solo female hero movie; and although Captain Marvel is scheduled for 2018 and Black Widow will be popping up in plenty of supporting roles, Agent Carter gives the fans what they want right now. In Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve and Peggy get a future reunion and she mentions how she found someone else. I’d love to see her future explored because we’ve been given all of these portions of information that show we’ve only scratched the character’s surface. There are many fun missions she could go on and eventually develop a major love interest down the line as well.

It seems like the writers already know where they would take the show were it to be given a second season. In the show’s fourth episode, “The Blitzkrieg Button,” Howard Stark pops back up an there is a quick moment between he and Jarvis where they discuss how she would be for something. I would assume Stark and Jarvis are alluding to the beginnings of S.H.I.E.L.D. and how Peggy is a top target to join the organization should it start up. I wouldn’t be surprised if before the series ends tomorrow a line is dropped by Stark about her joining S.H.I.E.L.D. I think this would be an amazing way to continue the show because it would blend so well with the modern set Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. giving viewers a look into how everything began. This would open up the the ability to bring back supporting characters from the current show.

While it would be fun to see more interaction with Howard Stark and Jarvis, I also have really come to like Agents Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) and Sousa (Enver Gjokaj). These are the two guys that Peggy has buddied up with throughout the mini-series and also are the only two characters who have a real grasp on her abilities. They could incorporate an extremely fun dynamic where Peggy is now the boss or higher up of Thompson and Sousa and their discomfort in taking orders from her. I could see a lot of great dialogue and jokes come out of this that would keep up the charm that Agent Carter currently provides. The show could also bring back Peggy’s neighbor and friend, Angie (Lyndsy Fonseca). Angie has been a pretty minor character, but we know she is pursuing an acting career that isn’t working out too well. Now that she knows Peggy is an agent, it opens up the possibility for her to be an agent in training for S.H.I.E.L.D. with that acting background. Angie has a lot of potential to become an awesome spy with her ability to act and Fonseca is a solid actress who I would love to see kept around.

The last thing that Agent Carter has done amazingly is include a look at the past of the Black Widow program through Dottie (Bridget Regan). While it’s up in the air how Dottie’s story will conclude tomorrow night in Agent Carter, she’s been an awesome part of the show and I would hope to see more of her. Black Widow is an awesome character in the movies but we know extremely little about her. The television version revealed the crazy origins of the character and how these girls were trained to be deadly spies. Dottie is a great rival for Peggy to have and I would love to see the continued battles between them. I also wonder how long it took before Black Widow started being used as a hero rather than a villain. Again, in the fourth episode of Agent Carter, Dottie reveals her fighting skills for the first time and also takes what looks like the trademark Black Widow wrist gun gauntlet, but we haven’t seen it since.

Agent Carter has one episode left in its season that will be on tomorrow night. There has been no news on the decision to continue the show or not, but I really hope that it gets a second season. It’s the perfect mini-series filler when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. goes off the air for hiatus that only needs eight episodes to deliver a fun and awesome story. I think that there is so much rich story to explore that incorporates the start of S.H.I.E.L.D. and could really dive into some classic Marvel stories while also showcasing a lot of classic minor heroes and villains. The current actors on the show are doing a phenomenal job and I would really love to see them again. It would help to fill out and expand the MCU in a completely new direction.

I’m expecting a great series finale for Agent Carter tomorrow night and really hope that next year we get Agent Carter season 2 or even something along the lines of Peggy Carter: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D..

5 Actors Who Could Replace Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man

With Spider-Man returning to the MCU, presumably by next year, more and more news is beginning to spread that Andrew Garfield will not be returning as Peter Parker. Although this was anticipated due to Marvel wanting to separate their take on the character with the past Sony incarnations and not create confusion for fans regarding why there is no Avengers Tower in the solo Amazing Spider-Man films or the OsCorp building in the Avengers, it’s still sad to see Garfield go. The actor managed to provide a wonderful performance as Peter Parker and was one of the few positive things in Marc Webb’s two movies, but at 31 years old, Marvel probably wants a young actor that can add some youth to the aging Avengers roster.

Here are 5 possible choices to replace Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man

Spider-Man is Joining the MCU

As most have heard by now Spider-Man is finally going to join the MCU and will be sharing the screen with Iron Man, Thor and the rest of his Avengers teammates.

Finally.

We can all take a huge sigh of relief and thank the Sony hack that happened back around the release of The Interview because one piece of information that came out of there was that Marvel and Sony had briefly had talks about the web slinger finding his way into the MCU with Sony turning the idea down, which caused insane fan frustration.

Now a deal has officially been worked out that will have Spider-Man’s next on screen appearance be through a Marvel film in the MCU and afterwards Sony will work on and release more solo Spider-Man films. Sony Pictures will still finance, distribute, own and have final creative control over the character, but Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal will co-produce the individual Spidey films to make sure they are well done and fall in with the tone and quality of the other Marvel films.

The first Spider-Man film is already locked in for a July 28, 2017 release and Marvel has even pushed the release dates of their scheduled Black Panther and Inhumans films back to 2018 and 2019 to clear the way and put more attention on Spider-Man. The solo Spidey film will be paired up with Thor:Ragnarok, which is planned for a November 3, 2017 release and continues the two Marvel movies a year plan going.

There’s been no word yet on how the character will make his MCU debut, but many would assume Peter pops up in Captain America:Civil War that is coming out next year. Spider-Man is a huge part of the original Civil War comic story and it would be a dream come true for fans to see Spidey in this role on screen. If this plan has been in the works for awhile, there is a very minimal chance that the post credits scene for Avengers: Age of Ultron will feature Parker and surprise fans with an instant tease; however, the actor (assuming Andrew Garfield is being replaced) would have already needed to have been selected and shot scenes with the movie releasing in only a couple of months.

Lady Sif will be Returning to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Lady Sif, played by Jaimie Alexander, gets love from a lot of fans of the MCU, which was a great way to get Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. some extra publicity in its first season when she stopped by for the 15th episode back in season 1 titled “Yes Men”.

It turns out the Asgardian will be finding her way back to Earth for another appearance on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. very soon in the second episode of the show when it returns to television in a couple of weeks. The episode will air on March 10th and will have Sif lose her short-term memory and forget who Thor is while taking on a super powered bad guy as well.

The episode sounds like a lot of fun and it will be nice to have S.H.I.E.L.D. back on the air soon!

The Full Daredevil Teaser Trailer

Yesterday we saw a quick short clip from the upcoming Marvel Netflix Daredevil series and now the full teaser has been posted and looks… AWESOME. I really can’t wait for this show to come out and there are still two whole months to wait for it… As mentioned yesterday, the show has this dark grittiness about it that gives off a completely different tone from what we see in the big screen Marvel movies and will definitely reveal a whole new side to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The only thing I had hoped for, which I’m not sure we will even get in this standalone season, is Matt Murdock eventually donning his traditional red suit; however it was nowhere to be found in the trailer and I could see them saving it for future seasons and The Defenders.

Daredevil is premiering on Netflix all at once starting April 10th, 2015. Be sure to check it out!
