Viola Davis to Play Amanda Waller

It’s been rumored for awhile now that Viola Davis was set to play Amanda Waller in the Suicide Squad movie due out next year. At the Academy Awards last weekend Davis officially confirmed that she will be playing Waller in the movie and lead these villains together.

This is a good casting; Viola Davis is a great actress and she can pull off a really nice mean side. Although I’ve only caught clips of her recent show, How to Get Away With Murder, she seems pretty dark in that show which will transition perfect to the character of Waller. The Suicide Squad movie seems to be coming together pretty nicely and with this great cast it would be a shame to see it flop.

Listen in as we discuss a bunch of big categories and what we thought of the nominees as well as who we believe should win and who will actually take home the award.

Chris and I also sneak in a quick review (rant) about Hot Tub Time Machine 2, which we saw this past week.

Kodi Smit-McPhee Cast as Young Nightcrawler in X-Men:Apocalypse

nightcrawl

Last night Bryan Singer tweeted out that the upcoming 2016 X-Men:Apocalypse has found its Nightcrawler in young actor Kodi Smit-McPhee. He joins the amazing cast that already includes the likes of Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy along with newcomers Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, and Tye Sheridan who are playing the young versions of Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops.

X-Men:Apocalypse is looking like it will be one very epic film with the new cast being put together, especially with Oscar Isaac playing the villain. I really like Smit-McPhee’s look for Nightcrawler and think he should be able to pull off the roll well. X-Men:Apocalypse is scheduled for a May 27, 2016 release date and trailers should start popping up later this year.

Pacific Rim Sequel Will Take Deeper Look at Kaiju and Universe

Pacific Rim kicked off a nice new return to the monster movie category back in 2013. Unfortunately, the movie struggled in the domestic box office, but dominated the international markets. The follow up motion picture is scheduled for an April 17, 2017 release date and is rumored to take a deeper look at the Kaiju and their origins. There is no word on whether or not this would continue using the same actors as the first film (which included Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and Charlie Day), but apparently is building up a massive world to drive the future films.

The second movie will apparently be setting up for a thrilling third part that would offer a lot more depth to the entire world and create a greater understanding of everything. Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beecham seem to have a clear vision of what they want to develop Pacific Rim into and hopefully fans can see everything come to life in the next couple of years.
