Chris and Blaise welcome the show’s first guest, Garrett Hopkins, for the Oscars Edition of the Awesome Mix Podcast! We’re releasing this a day earlier than normal so people can listen before the Academy Awards are on tomorrow, but this week we skip news and reviewing our weekly television shows to focus everything onto the awards. Listen in as we discuss a bunch of big categories and what we thought of the nominees as well as who we believe should win and who will actually take home the award.
Chris and I also sneak in a quick review (rant) about Hot Tub Time Machine 2, which we saw this past week.
Check out episode 2 of the Awesome Mix Podcast where we (Chris and Blaise) discuss the weekly entertainment news along with some reviews of Arrow, The Flash, Kingsman:The Secret Service, and more.
Time stamps will be added onto the post in a little bit but for now SPOILERS about everything we discuss!

Yesterday we saw a quick short clip from the upcoming Marvel Netflix Daredevil series and now the full teaser has been posted and looks… AWESOME. I really can’t wait for this show to come out and there are still two whole months to wait for it… As mentioned yesterday, the show has this dark grittiness about it that gives off a completely different tone from what we see in the big screen Marvel movies and will definitely reveal a whole new side to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The only thing I had hoped for, which I’m not sure we will even get in this standalone season, is Matt Murdock eventually donning his traditional red suit; however it was nowhere to be found in the trailer and I could see them saving it for future seasons and The Defenders.
Daredevil is premiering on Netflix all at once starting April 10th, 2015. Be sure to check it out!
The first official picture of Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) in the ATOM costume for Arrow has been released! I think that the suit looks pretty amazing and have been so happy since knowing we would get to see it this season on the show. A big part of what makes The Flash and Arrow so much fun is that they stick to the comic book style and are putting everyone into costumes. It will be great to see Palmer’s character get much more involvement and progression throughout the rest of the season, especially knowing it will payoff with him suiting up and hopefully joining the team!
News has come out that Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Jones (for her performance in The Theory of Everything) has officially been attached as the lead in one of Disney’s future Star-Wars standalone films that is being directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla).
Nothing is known about the project aside from Edwards is directing with Chris Weitz writing the script and now Jones starring. Jones was apparently chosen from a decent sized group of actresses that auditioned including Rooney Mara (Girls with the Dragon Tattoo) and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black).
The current speculation is that this solo film will be focused on Princess Leia in her early days while the other standalone motion picture by Josh Trank (Chronicle) will do the same but with Han Solo.
Hopefully more information will start to come out about these two films soon with this first mystery Star-Wars project planned for a December 16, 2016 release.
Marvel and Netflix have released a short clip preview from the teaser trailer for their upcoming Daredevil series that is scheduled to released on April 10th. This quick clip shows Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) in costume with an audio overlay of him saying “I’m just trying to make my city a better place”.
I think this really sets the tone of the show well and displays just how dark it will actually be. While The Avengers and big heroes get to save the world, the Netflix shows will really highlight the people that take care of scum like the mob.
I can’t wait to see the full teaser, which is going to be released tomorrow, so make sure to check back here where it will be posted immediately.
